Going through footage yesterday, again amazed how many of the participants in the Capitol insurgency had go-pros, special camera mounts, etc. Way too many were there to generate content, to livestream the lulz back into the fantasy world they inhabit.

The content generation is sort of a component, but content generation is a hobby for a lot of people. It often involves political activism and someone's professional life. No reason insurgents with that hobby wouldn't make it part of their content generation.

They 100% think of themselves as insurgents and have both political and religious justifications for their actions to "save" America. They have amassed whole libraries of propaganda and documentation to support their false beliefs. This is low intensity conflict by NSAG.

I didn’t intend to dismiss the perceived grievance or intention. I’m haunted by the shock, the disconnect from consequences/outcomes. The interviews with people coming out saying they did their part and thought something would happen but it didn’t, and they are confused.

I'm disagreeing with this, primarily. Most insurgencies don't go the way participants hope for, and many are divorced from realistic outcomes to varying degrees. But they were there with a purpose so *of course* they had cameras. That's how they recruit.https://twitter.com/MollyMcKew/status/1347205383559983106 …

And based on the look of confusion that I saw on many of their faces. I think they are LARPing.https://twitter.com/jimstewartson/status/1347580430736711680?s=20 …
