I think it’s more a point for policy makers. It’s the main issue in climate. There’s no escaping politics and contrasting values and visions of the good, but you can’t get *anywhere* unless you start with some basic agreements on consensus scientific knowledge.

This was a recurring issue covering a decade of debates over health policy: Any health plan is tradeoffs all the way down and requires some discussion of values, but the political debate really breaks down when one side denies any tradeoffs exists at all to resolve the problem
