There are no "both sides" on this one. There's only a lack of data, as you indicate. And in the absence of data no scientifically-based policy prescription is possible, yet.

Great - no argument here. But trials don’t magically happen. What money did you propose to use? Remember until a few days ago Congress hadn’t appropriated money for COVID research since the spring. This particular question is a limitation of politics not science
