Kudos for acknowledging and even amplifying counterarguments. It’s a valuable debate.

Did you see the news a few hours ago that the UK is essentially doing one-shot-for-now?https://www.gov.uk/government/news/statement-from-the-uk-chief-medical-officers-on-the-prioritisation-of-first-doses-of-covid-19-vaccines …

Its good there’s debate, but if there hadn’t been public advocacy we wouldn’t have had the debate. Pharma want 2-dose. Many medics would want the best for THEIR patients. But society as a whole needs to step up and prioritise in a situation like no other.

It isn't clear to me that we are seeing a weaponization of 1-dose advocacy. At most, I see a political debate (inherently messy but also justified) about administering all doses now (w/plans for a 2nd dose) v. holding back doses now. An issue on which reasonable ppx can disagree

It seems like the argument boils down to two points. Biggest is that some, umm, low information people, (never the author) may hear you and decide one dose may be enough, let’s skip the 2nd dose if it’s so burdensome to get one for them already. If we’re gonna play armchair…

psychologist about misinterpretations, author should also consider the possibility that existing plan may make ‘em believe they won’t benefit unless they get 2 doses. For those who have difficulties with getting even one shot, they may also decide to skip vaccination all together
