To be fair I complement people from Louisiana when they speak English well and I can understand them. Ironically, at the age of 50 I still carry an accent from living in New Zealand for 10 years when I was a child. And I was born in Pittsburgh.

I grew up in Alabama and when lived in CA for a couple years people refused to believe I was actually from Alabama. They think the whole state is the trailer park they saw on COPS.
