I’m a bit confused about what we know and don’t know about the vaccines. Doesn’t it matter a lot for deciding who to give the vaccine to first whether or not it prevents infection/transmission or if it only protects against severe disease?

It definitely is important to know that for prioritization. I dont understand why it wasnt a required trial outcome

Moderna promised more data on that (specifically on asymptomatic infection rates, to be clear, not a massive contact -tracing or cluster-randomization study) in a few weeks. Hopefully more clarity before 1c phase gets subprioritization which ACIP is wrangling over right now.
