So folks, seems I’ve become an inadvertent part of a Twitter kerfuffle I had no part in starting or framing. I muted *all* the conversations (it was overwhelming and again it wasn’t my argument!) But see below for timeline of what’s happening on the substantive topic itself. https://twitter.com/VaccineJo/status/1340382536346714112 …

It says a lot about the objectivity of algorithms. How are credit scores generated? Does Donald Trump have a good credit score?

“Our poorly vetted algorithm just happened to decide that poor people should live under bridges and rich people should have houses. Mystery to me, but oh well!”

Algorithms that are not self learning are only as good as the human who wrote the code. Just ‘coz you are a hospital based in Palo Alto you cannot use fancy technology words to get away. They could have as well rolled the dice as in the movie contagion and gotten better results

It's strange, how, at the end of the day, the algorithmic privilege system looks a lot like patriarchy.

i read https://coronavirus.medium.com/what-about-just-one-dose-of-the-pfizer-vaccine-996e2b74946f?gi=sd … and it makes sense... in a trial... half the subjects got a placebo.. we should find out how two half doses work.. a half then a full... then after reveal dose all the subjects up

That residents had to ask to be included in the discussion, and probably still aren't as Stanford "adjusts its algorithm," is disgustingly bad management.
