I can’t talk about others but what I’m talking about the very specific things. Saying no need to wear masks indoors if separated by a mere meter, three feet—that got corrected about 10 days ago. People had been trying since last March/April to update that. Took this long.

And where is the outrage for the 12 states not implementing this? Why are we entitled to rail on the WHO (an org that we withdrew from) and not on the states seeding SARS-CoV-2 throughout the nation? It's misplaced righteous anger. That's my point.

Yes I get that, and the process for updating guidance should be more transparent and dynamic. But is there evidence that this was uncritically implemented as policy and that made outcomes worse? Recommendations should be based on evidence, not public outcry.

From what I can tell, the worst outcomes have been in places where WHO guidance is at best ignored and sometimes outright rejected. It’s wrong to hold WHO accountable for other failures that have nothing to do with their recs and are outside of their control.
