This is a really good question. I can't think of one. I'd say "me" but I'm no longer really a "prominent tech writer" -- more like former/sometimes tech writer. Anyone have names to suggest?https://twitter.com/jessesingal/status/1336698932357902336 …

Yeah
@zeynep is right. "Solve" is way too strong a formulation from@jessesingal. A better formulation might be "who are the ones expressing blanket opposition to deplatforming on principle."https://twitter.com/zeynep/status/1336704248831217668 …jonstokes(\.com|\.eth) added,

Replying to @jonst0kes @jessesingal
Yeah, I don't think there is a single serious critic who doesn't recognize limits and downsides to both—even while disagreeing among ourselves about the how much, how and the effectiveness of both paths. Calling strawman here.

Yeah and I think at least in the "critic" space, this has not been a naive space at all for a long time.

I hear you, but I also still can't shake the regular feeling, on reading a lot of this stuff, that they are not taking seriously what it looks like when the practices & policies they're advocating for are turned on speech they like.

On that, I'd agree. Hence my position that the core problem is the arbitrariness of the power, not merely that it's exercised too little. (Though scale and the cost of moderation does mean that companies are financially incentivized moderate as little as possible or automate).
