This is a really good question. I can't think of one. I'd say "me" but I'm no longer really a "prominent tech writer" -- more like former/sometimes tech writer. Anyone have names to suggest?https://twitter.com/jessesingal/status/1336698932357902336 …

Wait, who are the ones arguing that more robust moderation or deplatforming can “solve” the problem?

Good question. I’ve seen people on Twitter linking this article to show that deplatforming works, but the article explicitly says that banning speech doesn’t remove it from the internet, it just makes it someone else’s problem. http://comp.social.gatech.edu/papers/cscw18-chand-hate.pdf …

Similarly I’ve seen people quote this first paragraph saying “deplatforming works,” ignoring the very next paragraph that expresses reservations and concerns about the problems it causes. Yeah. I'm on the deplatforming works that's why it can't be so arbitrary side of this argument, and I don't think anyone in this area is really unaware of all the dangers and downsides—again, even as people have different trade-off points about where the line should be.
