On point (1), the correlation is high. Really high. Like, had to double check we didn't screw up the analysis somehow high, correlation was -.74; and correlation of cases with mask wearing was just slightly lower. 2/9pic.twitter.com/oFieVrzytF

Unsurprisingly, the states where mask wearing is high are also the ones where social distancing is prevalent, which highlights that these preventive behaviors cluster together, which makes it hard to pull them apart in terms of their impact. 3/9

Indeed, and hopefully this will eventually—maybe next pandemic?-—be finally understood by the many many many public health experts and medical doctors who—some to this day—claim that masks would create false sense of security even though one's prior should have been the opposite.
