Do journalists consider it offensive if people talk publicly about themselves when they know they’re about to be written about? I don’t understand what the breach of trust is.

Some form of internationally recognized membership board of peer accredited organization - with a certification that can be displayed on internet/social media as well as broadcast and print media, please.

Fwiw I think the ethical duty comes before the tit-for-tat choice. If a journalist or their organization cares about not being front-run they should just not give anyone the opportunity to. Putting the opportunity to betray your trust on the table is convenient but bad.
