Raising kids is hard, I think about stuff like this a lot. One thing we have tried at home is to have a jar that we drop marbles into when one kid does something unexpectedly kind/generous. When jar is full, both kids get to choose a fun reward (experience, not money/toys)

I like the idea of learning to *give* shout outs (we have one at work and I have sent them out to a few colleagues). Maybe it’s the structured format of this I don’t love — although I confess I have no ideas for how to do it more spontaneously
