I have to get outside this weekend or I will die. I’ve never hiked in the cold. If you have some good clothing or gear recommendations, I’m taking them.

Fellow cold-hater here. Those little hand-warming (and foot-warming) sachets really work in a pinch, too. Saved me on many a night watching my son's youth hockey practices. But if you can stay moving, you won't feel it so much.

I highly recommend rechargeable hand warmers. They can be turned off/on and have different temp settings. Battery lasts a long time, and they can be used as back up phone charger. Just have to remember to keep them charged.

Layers are your friend. Buy a good merino wool layer to wear under whatever else you are wearing, and if you are like me, it works. Plus most of them can be worn on their own, too, if it feels hot. I'd say my 2 cents but man THEY ARE EXPENSIVE.pic.twitter.com/30LLfjMGxn

You know how people who grow up poor but are not now describe the moment when they realize they are not poor anymore? For me, it was realizing that I could afford the warmth!
(I tried many cheaper alternatives over the years I was poor. Well, shivered through them, more like). - Show replies

Snood + beanie. Also, silk thermals keep it light.

I was the same; never warm. Once you hit menopause that will all go away - LOL

Merino isn't terribly hard wearing? OK if you're special forces and can just get more from the stores..
