It’s an appalling lack of judgement, again. He is being a part of the problem, again. Thanks for speaking up.

I'm furious about this. Humans are terrible at risk assessment. We need to put that in block letters on billboards or something. Anyone with a platform who isn't shouting "you're bad at risk assessment, stay home!" is killng people
-
Staying home isn't just good strategy because you're less exposed to the virus. You're less exposed to your pre-Covid habits and to your tendency to take lousy risks in the moment. It's the pandemic mode of "don't start none, won't be none".

Oh my God. So he was specifically told that his op-eds can directly influence people’s behavior in unsafe ways, and he just... published this anyway. Wow.

I'd never read his January piece before. Yikes. "So far, President Trump has offered a measured response to the virus. 'We have it totally under control,' he said this week. But online, misinformation about the scale of the virus is already trending."

Your newsletter basically said that journalism failed its public miserably, on covid. I wonder if he agrees with that. What simple rules of thumb would you suggest, if we had the year to do over? (& we weren't being distracted by an orange-pelted gesticulator on center stage)

(re covid coverage, I meant)
