Things one could cautiously do in summer are much higher risk now. Cold and humidity affect the survivability of the virus. A nationwide surge means regions cannot bail each other out. I've always advocated for the least restrictive precautions possible. Right now, it's serious.

Being a tattletale doesn’t win one many favors. I think it stems from ignorance. As a species, we start with Minimax when the stakes are high. Then as we learn, we relax and incorporate uncertainties. It’s the nature of learning during an emergency.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimax

I have difficulty believing officials here in traumatized CT had any such malice in their decisions regarding park and beach closings, and restrictions on outdoor gatherings. “Abundance of caution” comes to mind. I base my outdoor distancing on observation of a smoker’s cloud.
