Remarkable. No public health intervention is easily introduced or adopted. But masks ended up being more polarizing than I would have ever guessed.https://twitter.com/j_g_allen/status/1322489781356498946 …

The psychological impact of masks has been greatly underestimated. And the polarization has a lot to do with the sanctimony on the left. Had the message been "masks don't hurt, might help, wear one inside," this all might have gone down differently.

The tragedy of masks, is how all masks got grouped together - N95 + Surgical + cloth masks - muddling attempts of adoption by general population despite all of the evidence. Simple cloth masks save lives.
Let’s start with what different people need for their Covid ‘kit’ in differing situations. Then see what we need, what we have, and what have to create or obtain, and what we may need in the future. Too much work? If we had already put the work in, we wouldn’t need to do it now
/2 nyc is proud of it’s low + rate, but only 10% offices staffed. (The first six floors of buildings?). Don’t want panic? Work the problem. Otherwise we are implementing the herd immunity non-solution and sharpening our fingers for blame game
/3 Main issues-enclosed spaces, how to communicate through masks, ?everything about superspreaders? 100,000 cases per day for 300,000,000 is 300 more days of Covid, then on to the next one. We all need kits going forward. Don’t like that, move to Idaho.
