A very interesting read on epistemic trespassing, experts moving into other areas assuming they know because they are smart. Sharp observations and thought-provoking. And recognizablehttps://www.forbes.com/sites/madhukarpai/2020/10/30/pandemic-or-not-experts-need-to-be-self-aware-and-humble/ …

What I like about the article is it acknowledges that everyone is an epistemic trespasser. An epidemiologist who is not an education expert, for example, is still trespassing in terms of discussing school closures.

There should be way less cracking down on “armchair epidemiologists” and much more humility and multi-disciplinary thinking.

The elephant in the room here is Atlas. Isn't this more about good faith than about whether experts from w/i or o/s of a field s/b trusted? If everyone is dealing in good faith then cross-pollination is useful and desired.
