In 2016, I explained how media's inability to resist mindlessly participating in sabotage purposefully dangled in front of them—instead of doing their job—was, in effect, a form of censorship for the 21st century. The "stars" have barely learned a thing. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/05/opinion/what-were-missing-while-we-obsess-over-john-podestas-email.html …pic.twitter.com/asqU85AE58

It's the 21st century. If there is a role for media, it's not acting like a mindless ping-pong ball to be bounced around by political operatives—who can post themselves. It's to provide focus and clarity and it's doing the legwork that helps inform the public.

Instead, it appears, many members of political media they think they can appease various political operatives by being equally mindless at doing their work for them. That's not being non-partisan, that's failing at the job.

It's a really good question how to save an essential institution, journalism, but also not letting it continue to be this damaging to an informed public sphere, and forcing it to to adapt to what it's actual job should be. Whatever happens this election, that should be the work.

Deliberately confusing and distracting the public is a form of censorship and misinformation, and traditional journalism is too often a participant in this. That I can look at what I wrote about all this in 2016 and before and think "wow, we're still there" is tragic.pic.twitter.com/jAMaJKySTN

The ask on media here isn't go easy on any party or political campaign. Totally opposite. It's do your job.

Damn, I wish more publishers recognized this. Doing real journalism is hard when there's always pressure to be "balanced" instead of reporting the truth. Thank you.

I often have to pore over your writing. I’m no dummy, but your prose is advanced. I have to study rather than simply read you. This to me is a sign of genius. Thank you.
