Yep. I have a CO2/VOC monitor I've been using to see how things are. Places are *drowning* in bleach etc. The people doing the cleaning—low-paid women—are breathing in enormous amounts of harmful stuff unnecessarily, and then we are (I measure it).https://twitter.com/akm5376/status/1316027790160928771 …

Movie theaters (silent patrons wearing masks) are almost certainly much safer than spin classes indoors with unmasked panting exercisers, even with the "sanitation" and "reduced capacity" and "six feet between bikes" blah blah nonsense.https://twitter.com/BAmontanada/status/1316029238001037315 …

March, 2020: "Let's wear masks for a respiratory disease". "NOOO, they are harmful." Evidence? *crickets* October, 2020: "Let's drown everything in bleach and disinfectants!" Wait, there's tons of evidence this isn't that safe or necessary. *crickets* https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2753247 …pic.twitter.com/7imhfQSyI7

"If they were following guidelines, how did the outbreak happen?" "This remains unclear." Maybe something wrong with guidelines that allow "distanced" people panting indoors on very very very clean bikes? Seems mostly young people but won't always be. https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2020/10/15/how-were-so-many-infected-everything-you-need-to-know-about-hamiltons-spinco-outbreak.html …pic.twitter.com/5qBwVxEm8k

I go by a crossfit place on my way to get groceries here in Germany, and there are often a dozen people there without masks.

i had to stop going to my distanced, outdoor, 5 person exercise class here in montreal cuz of regulations changing, but the same class can keep happening in an indoors gym without masks

i was thinking a few weeks ago: now that my fitness is back to being adequate (thanks to cycling!) maybe i should go back to doing martial arts! so i looked up the rules under covid, and decided, maybe that can wait another year or three

Same thought here, though at least our Taekwondo school offers remote lessons. Though not the same - some exercises need a partner to work.

Here's the head of public health of Canada's capital,
@VeraEtches saying you don't need to wear a mask while working out, but you DO need to wear one when walking into the gym. Boggles the mind. https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/you-don-t-need-to-wear-a-mask-while-exercising-at-the-gym-dr-etches-1.5023275 …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Anyone proposing Sweden as a contrarian example has *no idea* what they're talking about. Sweden had a more strict & early indoor gathering limit than most of Europe, never lifted it when others did & everyone 16+ is in virtual school. Japan! Try Japan!
