I don’t understand the “this will not matter” talk among the chattering classes. Nobody has a crystal ball. Who knows? But one way of ensuring nothing matters is giving up having values to defend. Cynicism isn’t a sign of depth or savvy, it’s resignation masquerading as politics.

To clarify: I don't have a naive conviction that we're one revelation or one tell-all book away from a massive shift. If anything, I'd say.. Nope. But standing up for a set of values, acting like they matter, and convincing people there is a way forward.. That's the way forward.

We also need to focus on all of the governmental subsidies that go to the rich who don't pay taxes. All the tax incentives, for example, given to Trump (and others) to build and make personal profit.

And there lies the problem. In the older days there would be uprising, rebellion, action and in extreme cases civil unrest. Now everyone just takes to twitter to express outrage and demand change from the same corrupt figures to deal with a discovered corruption,its all so broken

The cynicism probably has to do with the fact that most media people encounter doesn't address this as a problem of "the rich never pay taxes" but rather "Trump is a crook" or "Trump is actually poor" which are tired and proven ineffective
