umm, you guys actually both seem to agree that Japan's policies were good ones. Zeynep thinks those policies controlled the virus, Alex that they gave enough freedom to people for the virus to run its course without mass deaths.

I don't really know who's right, but if you look at Japan's official policies and results, the point everyone can agree on should be that deaths can be minimized and people can live with the virus with minimal official government restrictions. We don't need mass shutdowns.
