Much airplane related fear relates to lack of control, which is both perceived and real. Risk, whether COVID or crash, may be low, but once you are in the air you are stuck.

True enough. Empty middle seat and vigilance to any symptoms can help (if anyone is coughing, they can be isolated quickly even if they have a cold, to reassure people). I have very mild allergies that can cause a few sneezes when I step in somewhere new so I now panic people.
