For people thinking this is implausible; China had ventilation on its radar back in January. As did Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, etc. It's *our* public health authorities & the WHO that's been way behind on this issue. Very plausible that Xi communicated such basics to Trump.

People feel helpless because there's a dawning realization that the administration is willing to kill them for political ends.

I feel that, too—weird passivity. For me it’s: “Sure, Trump is awful, we know THAT. Nothing new THERE.” Many are telling me they can be mad at Trump and Woodward both. I just feel that’s disproportionate and counterproductive somehow.

Yep, every time someone releases something about Trump: "It won't change a thing." Journalists openly downplay things, saying "swing voters don't care". The national passivity and the resignation, combined with a managerial attitude towards the public, is frustrating to me.
