Some families can manage to keep their kids learning and less-stressed. Others, with less resources, won't be able to do so. I suspect the ones left behind will pay a huge, lifelong price, will never catch up, and, sadly, show up in every research study for the next four decades.https://twitter.com/rorycooper/status/1303319674164318209 …

Reckoning? More like: We are in the middle of one of the most profound inequity entrenching events to have happened in decades in terms of scale, impact and scope. https://twitter.com/JW95080436/status/1303348624387182592 …

Childhood obesity will shoot through the roof as well, who knows what's the long term effect of that as well?

I pitched a draft to multiple outlets on the special ed failures and no editor picked it up. Being rejected is a normal part of freelancing, but no one else is writing about it either so it must not feel like news. Meanwhile, my son isn’t learning.

Do you have kids? Kids aren't learning shit in public school. By missing this year they'll just fall behind on their indoctrination.

There is a lot of talk about it in Britain and Sweden. I too wish teaching would move outdoors. And I also wonder what is the acceptable amount of children to lose one parent to covid-19 before schools have to close? Losing one parent does lessen future life chances alot.

I really don't think most school education is important. Do you think it is? Or do you think the inequality will happen because of other factors? Such as mental health, lack of social contact, or maybe by making those kids graduate a year later?

Perhaps our Secretary of Education has been preparing for this for months and has a comprehensive and well informed plan. Oh, wait...

I CANNOT believe we are still talking about this like it's even optional at this point. 5 months later. So tragic.
