I hope vaccine(s) work out but so frustrating! A lot of sensationalism with "no immunity!! antibodies disappear!!!" versus pinning everything on a vaccine with little discussion of the possibility that a smallpox eradication scenario may well not be in the cards.

Agree – hopefully vaccines will be (very) useful additional tool, but need to plan for likelihood that they'll end up somewhere between those extremes.

Exactly. We’ll figure it out when if/when hit that point doesn’t work. Best case scenario, things are better than expected and we have functional playbooks for the future. But this one has large animal reservoirs, and we’re already at the ~second time around: SARS 2003 and this.
