Enough with the beach-scolding! It's not scientifically-sound and it's counterproductive. It's a virus—not a moral agent geared to smite people who dare enjoy themselves. Six months in, we *know* most risk is indoors. More knowledge, less baseless outrage. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/07/it-okay-go-beach/613849/ …pic.twitter.com/rM3uC1pHI6

You have to weigh in people sharing cars with people they don't live with, moving along paved walkways & shops, eating at restaurants & cafes, not necessarily respecting distancing on the actual beach, etc. Scolding is a moral disapproval of selfish behavior & as such, valid.

Actually, utter nonsense. If concerned about restaurants, please be concerned about restaurants. And beaches are fine; no known superspreader events after many months.

Going to the beach is not occupying a piece of beach, it involves a series of risks, logistics, and neither are all beaches made equal. Going to the beach doesn't equal being at the beach; going to the beach doesn't equal going to the beach; and the beach doesn't equal the beach.

Then they should point out the actual risk. Anything else is both stupid and misleading.

The point I want to raise, is that anticipating all risks of going to the beach, is impossible by only referring to being at the actual beach. I don't see how it can be stupid & misleading to consider the full scope of risks associated with going to the beach.

On the other hand, though there isn't undisputable evidence regarding level of transmission risk of being at the beach, I think there's sufficient evidence to preferably avoid it as unnecessary risk. Ignoring the risk is what I consider morally unacceptable. Hence, the scolding.
