In the networked era, it's no longer possible to hide key information, but it absolutely is possible to break the link between information and action and empowerment. Been writing this for years; that's what Wikileaks etc. did, for example, in 2016: confuse and increase mistrust.

When so many people are utterly confused and spooked, constructive political action becomes harder and harder. That's the trap we've been spiraling into for a long time, and a lot of media affectations—the ironic detachment, the savvy, the false equivalences, etc. feed into this.
