I absolutely believe you, but I’m asking you to believe me that within, like, an hour of SSC being taken down, a search of his real name got me to his blog in an anonymous browser window, as it did for several other people (though: can’t vouch for the timing for them).

Also I'm sorry all that happened to you! My experience online is that every little bit of friction helps and "what do you have to hide" or "you said your name yourself in person" are not good arguments. It's a principle we should defend; NYT should not do this casually.
