I can't get over the fact that this person I'm supposed to believe is a prominent, enviable, social-media oriented young socialite has fewer than 3k IG followers. I have friends whose dogs have larger followingshttps://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/the-virus-didnt-stop-a-washington-socialite-from-throwing-a-backyard-soiree-then-the-tests-came-back-positive/2020/07/01/841041ba-ba19-11ea-bdaf-a129f921026f_story.html …

It's almost as if declaring someone one of DC's "young social stars" is a completely subjective editorial decision that would vary widely based on who the decision makers are. Wonder who was at the table to anoint this woman no one has ever heard of as prominent & important

It appears the reason this woman "matters" is because she showed up in Washington as a hot young model dating a old rich guy: which WaPo "covered," which in turn made her more "prominent," thus meriting followup coverage that then stretched on for yearshttps://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/19/AR2008051902974.html?tid=a_inl_manual …

Also it is unclear what happened. She was already positive. Then what? No don’t have parties, but the piece has close to zero information on what actually happened epidemiologically. So she’s not newsworthy and neither is the event as far as I can tell.
