This is.. a sad piece. Yes, the transition to a digital society is messy. I wrote a book about the many good things, while warning about business models, algorithmic amplification and censorship via info glut. But this? It's Upton Sinclair quote level sad. https://twitter.com/nick_clegg/status/1278341526209224710 …pic.twitter.com/WDD5ojg2DX

"censorship via info glut" is something I've experienced but never out a phrase to, and it's incredibly accurate

Couldn’t get past the false premise presented in the first paragraph I’m afraid. Tragic that a man who persuaded a nation he was motivated by principles turned out to be motivated more by money.

I couldn’t get past the fact that he tweeted a pic of himself as a promo for the piece.

I understand the incentives... I don't trust Facebook, but, if they register 4 million people to vote, that could easily be enough to swing the election? Perhaps currying favor with what the see as an inevitable democratic government?

Bald face lie. FB was, and does, profit from hate.

        - There's no incentive for us to do anything but remove it. - Unless it comes from certain people. - Advertisers are backing away because they don't get it. - People don't want to see hateful content (just ignore the huge engagement that content gets). - We decide what's hateful.
