Good morning in sad, jealous tweets. All schools in Taiwan have been open since February. They did not listen to China or WHO in January and immediately masked up and shut down travel. They also traced the hell out of their outbreaks. They were practically done by February.

Right - not at all, in fact. I have several chapters and papers coming out about Japan and COVID, some in the next few weeks. Japan's response has been pretty chaotic. There are cultural similarities to Taiwan though, notably in normal mask use and limited skin-to-skin contact.

Vietnam did much better than both of them despite huge land border with China.

I remember I did expect Japan to explode (i.e. https://www.kalzumeus.com/covid19-japan-white-paper/ … sounded very plausible), simmilarily to Italy, bud even with some reports of stress on hospitals in ~april, they avoided the Italy scenario and I am not sure how ... would love to understand more.
