Folks, *forget* about vinegar for tear gas. This below is great (saline solution) and easy to make. Just water is fine. Diluted antacid (aluminum hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide kind) on your skin is fine. But saline is best, especially for eyes. (Yes, ahem, I know for sure).

This is the stuff they use in Hong Kong for washing out tear gas from one’s eyes/face, but it’s expensive. Go to the first link in thread for instructions on how to make your own saline solution. Or just use water, not vinegar.pic.twitter.com/jqyD7IjZvZ

All good advice. Also, especially if you’re a journalist reporting from the front lines, consider wearing shatterproof goggles in addition to a helmet. Getting hit by a canister/tracer in the head or eye is usually the biggest threat in these situations.https://twitter.com/epiellie/status/1266752753797410822 …

Wearing a helmet makes you a cop magnet.

Sure seems with police ready to use rubber bullets and pepper balls on both protesters and identifiable journalists that a pair of safety glasses or better yet goggles would avoid being blinded.
