I'm not a novice user at all but I often cannot manage to do simple things in Microsoft products, and end up asking my help desk. If there is a way to search and *then* sort, such a simple thing, do let me know because the UI is so terrible that we couldn't figure this out.

Yep. It's all so terrible that there is no way it would be a viable product if it weren't for the fact that end-users have little to no say in what to use in corporate/enterprise settings—and that result traces directly back to the early monopoly status.https://twitter.com/notoriousbigre/status/1265995948183957506 …

Always an assumption that I'm an idiot with computers (implied old and/or female). I've been programming since I was a preteen—worked with mainframes, midis, PCs and I can program by putting hex codes in debug. Now send a screenshot of search-and-sort.https://twitter.com/Rationalbot/status/1265995880504721410 …

I know. Basic stuff should be easy to do, including for novices. But whenever I point that out, part of the push back I get is that I must be an idiot or a novice. Implied or explicit is female/old/stupid etc. https://twitter.com/douglasjmorris/status/1266003959300448260 …

You can't sort the search results in Windows Explorer either and it drives me absolutely insane.

Some of the bugs in Word have been there since the 90's, and they're some of the features they did migrate to online.

You can't sort by time, either, and results are not published in chronological order. It's infuriating.

And in the app the results are no longer in chronological order by default since they now display three random mails as "Best results" first.

"Best results" is the worst bs. Gmail does this in the search suggestions but thankfully sorts the results properly if you ignore the suggestions and press enter. Still an evil pattern.

In the top bar, type the search term and then type from: and then the email of the sender. It will show you all of the emails that contain the search term from that sender.pic.twitter.com/irMw41nOOB

Okay, now sort it by subject! Search *and* sort which is the most basic function in an email client.
