People complain about the social media “mob” (and there are issues) but the core problem here is that even after such videos, people like her aren’t ever prosecuted. It’s clearly a false and malicious report, a crime, and it seems like she’s trying to get him “killed-by-cop.”https://twitter.com/NYDailyNews/status/1265090833138810881 …

That’s not what I’m saying. The way to make progress is for these crimes to be taken seriously and prosecuted. We get stuck on the online component when the bigger question is: why is there no legal accountability despite existing laws against fake reportshttps://twitter.com/robertwaldeck/status/1265112278938107907 …

I want the people whose job it is to investigate and prosecute such acts to do their job. With due process! Anyone bothered by the online reaction should asking why such acts are never prosecuted. (Erik Garner was only selling loose cigarettes ). https://twitter.com/pinkerite1/status/1265116004419547137 …

Yeah it is swatting-adjacsent. Needs to be taken seriously. And for people saying what about before? Fine. That’s why an investigation is good.https://twitter.com/octarinedragoon/status/1265115136286744578 …

News report says police came. For the rest? Let them investigate. The guy clearly looks like he’s trying to stay away from her. And she’s faking being in danger. But fine, let them investigate. https://twitter.com/lirrtraveller/status/1265119771764363269 …

Why only focus on the online part? Police came looking for "possible assault" because she faked being in danger—a black man suspected of *assault* with binoculars in his hand is a moment away from becoming a hashtag. This is swatting-adjacent. Swatters have had 20 year sentences.pic.twitter.com/2wi8LLBkSA

I agree, I think we as citizens have a duty to make sure these crimes are charged, but I don't think we should be going out first to get them fired first, I think that way lies madness.

Felony or misdemeanor, meh. It's a crime involving dishonesty or false statement and she is in a fiduciary job--a position of trust with other people's money. Those circumstances make her VERY fair game for complaints to her employer.
