Pr Trump claims we published reports in Dec 2019 claiming a virus was spreading in Wuhan. Untrue. The first paper describing 41 patients with COVID-19 was published on Jan 24. That paper identified symptom onset of the first Wuhan patient as Dec 1. No cover up. Full transparency.pic.twitter.com/BISAgbp0sE

Also highly pertinent: that early paper clearly suggests that human-to-human transmission is likely.

By January 24, China had already admitted that though. The cover-up happened before that—medical workers in Wuhan were falling ill as early as December from contact with patients so they knew. Family members, too. I think we can say this without excusing US lag or defunding WHO.

But that Lancet paper on January 24 told us all we needed to know to get ready, and we then lost two more months. 😢 Well still behind.

Errrr, no, local media in China reported it and China notified WHO on 31th Dec. WHO published it on Jan 5th. Reference: https://www.who.int/csr/don/05-january-2020-pneumonia-of-unkown-cause-china/en/ …

Zhong Nanshan, Chinese equivalent of Fouci, was interviewed by CNN admitted the early coverups by local governments. U know what, those officials (including the top provincial officials) were quickly removed from offices. Have any officials US or UK lost jobs over mishandling? No

The Chinese government dismissed some officials because of the weak epidemic resistance, while the US government, so many officials with weak epidemic resistance, were not punished. It is ridiculous that it is no wonder that the epidemic in the United States is the most serious.

What about the US cover-up for two, three months when thousands were falling ill? The Chinese cover-up can partly be explained in the ‘imperfect’ developing understanding of a new virus, so isn’t the US cover-up much more unforgivable and damaging?

for America yes. but for countries that acted fast or countries that could NOT act? S. Korea, Iran, and many more - damage to many countries - even economic situatn

But by then sadly damage had been done. Things had leaked out of China big time to wreak havoc in the world. Iran, Italy. Even countries that managed well - economy back to what it was decades ago. Could've been contained internally.
