Me too! Despite the cute mental picture, do note that professor Yuen is a leading microbiologist specializing in infectious diseases. https://twitter.com/nycneets/status/1262015744633720832 …

The arc of the cuteness universe is long but it bends towards a hamster wearing a surgical mask.https://twitter.com/Pinboard/status/1262013583673573376 …

I understand. We just updated our preprint with the latest on that. Cloth masks are good for source-control (stopping infecting others), and if you add a paper towel layer, the general performance becomes even better. Jennifer 🇺🇸 ☘️ 🌞 ❤️ @jmtaylor1977Replying to @zeynepThis is with surgical masks. People are going to still rebel against it until they come out with a study showing the efficacy of cloth/homemade/cotton masks. Which is what the vast majority are wearing. (P.S. I support mask wearing lest folks want to attack me)6 replies 19 retweets 43 likesShow this thread -
Replying to @zeynep
Doesn't the paper towel create too much resistance to air flow? Forcing the air to flow around the mask instead of through the fabric would reduce effectiveness.

I recommend avoiding trying to figure stuff out from first principles in one's head and look at the research itself and see if if the researchers are utterly incapable of thinking of the most basic things by themselves.
