I disagree. Yes summer may bring about a lull. Possible that seasonality effects will bring numbers down. But as people start seeing long-term outcomes (which are less visible now) on what surviving this *actually* means for a substantial portion, they will wisely avoid "normal". https://twitter.com/conorsen/status/1258836264570228738 …

Yes. As usual and tragically so, the price of our failure to drive cases down fully: to have universal masking and mass testing, to build scalable and rapid contact-tracing; and to provide isolation will be paid by the poorest and the most vulnerable. https://twitter.com/zannzibarland/status/1259143807032909824?s=20 …

It would be nice if there were an explanation in this piece about how he thinks he contracted it, but the absence may suggest that there's no point in speculating. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/05/finally-virus-got-me-scientist-who-fought-ebola-and-hiv-reflects-facing-death-covid-19 …

I'm inclined that way too,
@zeynep. "We identified only a single outbreak in an outdoor environment, which involved two cases." https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.04.20053058v1 … -

But what about the dangers of resurgence? Will fall/winter cause this virus to pick up steam?

I find the evaluation of personal risk psychologically interesting. However much I dislike the lockdown, what expected value of suffering will I risk? And we don't know enough about this thing to even ballpark some variables.

Yup, the spring break exposure was not the time at the beach, it was the times at the bars after the beach.

This is a sincere Q: we have these early treatments such as low-dose blood thinners (https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Learning-on-the-run-Bay-Area-doctors-find-15246753.php …) and earlier hospital admittance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKHgDcbFTcM … so if caught early enough it's now a much less fatal virus, is it not? Just testing early enough is the issue?
