We see this all the time yet people still don’t understand that “perfect” is the enemy of “good enough.” Condoms, vaccines, and more. “They don’t always work so why bother” has always been a poor argument unsupported by outcomes.

Thanks for the link. You’re certainly more knowledgeable in this area, but amazing how that particular problem happens in many fields. It’s very common in my field of tech and information security.

Part of the problem is "how about this unforeseen problem" sounds clever and appeals to the contrarian in intellectuals--the appeal of risk compensation theories for safety devices for example, despite the evidence. "Yeah, imperfect, but it helps and that's very good"=boring.
