I love Bruce on everything cybersecurity but this is absolutely not true. It's like an epidemiologist telling people encryption is pointless because, well, hand-waving something something NSA supercomputers.

I find this attitude strange. When you speak to a contact tracer, they ask you who you've been in contact with - and even if you can remember how can you know who you sat next to on a train? At its most basic, the app is just a way of making that process of recollection easier

Also counterproductive. It will not stand the test of time or application. It's possible that the US will never manage to have something like South Korea or will choose not to, for other reasons. But "they don't work" isn't true; they don't work perfectly or by themselves is.
