The coronavirus makes some things that anyone who studied the institution knew kinda explicit to most everyone. Okay. It could be an opportunity to reshuffle or jettison some of the latent functions. But it's not true that the latent functions are irrelevant or unnecessary.

I don't know how anything will go anymore than anyone else (vaccine? endemic? who knows?). But it's completely plausible to me that the latent functions plus the unavailable options will come back roaring, with enormous demand while we rarely speak of COVID again, a la 1918 flu.

i like socializing aspec t but i did wish if i did things diffently. i would have gone for homeschooling communities where moms get togehrrr tske turns which also handles the socialist aspect of teaching.

My son is immunocompromised & can't go to school. Thankfully chemo and transplant haven't impaired his cognitive function. We can teach concepts-but cannot socialize him. He is loved, living, but has poor interpersonal skills after long years of isolation & steroid use.
