For a long time, I felt like I wasted my time getting a CS degree. My colleagues were doing the same work w/o one. Then I realized that the world works differently for me. Guess most degrees are a vetting process. Companies cannot evaluate prospective candidates on every single factor, right? Universities help them in that aspect. Also, self-learning requires a great deal of discipline which many lack. Easier to learn under credit requirements.

It’s often harder for many people (not white, not guy) to get evaluated on “just” skills. Just the way it is.
