People need to hear this. It’s not just stay at home for a few weeks. We need long-term sustainable strategies: universal masking, test/trace and also plans for how to get through something that will last maybe years. Maybe we’ll get a bit lucky. No guarantee.https://twitter.com/dwallacewells/status/1251469910435418112 …

The view from quarantine is deeply misleading—and falsely encouraging—about the state of the disease. (1/x) https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/04/we-are-probably-only-a-tenth-of-the-way-through-the-pandemic.html …

All the “finally peaking” posts merely mean that a severe lockdown can get this thing to be less of a crisis for the moment. It’s not even the end of the beginning. We need people to understand this.

The scientist behind the cervical cancer vaccine says a covid vaccine is going to be very very tricky and we may not get there. We do need to start thinking what we do if it turns out mission impossible.

I would like to see a lot more solid science based on following people who have contracted it. We still don’t know to what extent immunity exists or for sure if a person can get over it completely or you’re left with lung/organ damage or a virus 🦠 that keeps you chronically ill.

Right, just like how South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong have been dealing with it from the beginning. So everyone knows what has to be done, but CDC has been missing in action, so it's now up to 50 governors to figure it out.

I feel like @IHME_UW has been a huge source of misdirection on this, making it seems like there’s some natural curve that we’ll leap over if we just wait at home. And now they’re even adding opening “dates”—it’s a form of malpractice
