The real study doesn't exclude aerosol transmission The flow would have carried the aerosols where required. And there is evidence from influenza research that very few aerosol particles are needed to infect.

BTW I suggest you look into influenza transmission research. In the biggest human challenge study people ioculated intranasally didn't have lower resp tract involvement (and much aerosol emission) almost couldn't infect anyone
