What’s been happening in NYC is devastating but asymptomatic carriers & coronavirus are here for long-term. Carriers in your grocery store. Carriers in laundry rooms. Outdoor spaces can be managed to limit people & offer stress relief.

How would you manage Prospect Park when it's nice out and everyone goes there? I don't have the luxury of going to the grocery store because I have to minimize my risk. I do have to walk a dog. Even in lockdown, a 6 ft radius of personal space in NYC is a joke.

True, personal space is a challenge in NYC but currently grocery stores (here anyway) limit customers inside stores. A guard lets you in as people leave. That method could apply to outdoor spaces.

      1. Not all parks, beaches, etc. are set up for tight access control. 2. Fewer people want to go to any one individual grocery store at any one time, so outside lines waiting to get in are easier to control.

There are no shortage of people in NYC trying to shop for groceries. Maintaining a 6 ft distance on a NYC street under any circumstance is a joke.

There are about 10000 grocery stores in NYC and 1700 parks, and people visit grocery stores all the time, parks mostly when the weather is good. Crowding in and at the latter is a much bigger issue.

People need to stop whining and stay home. Protect those on the front lines.

Considering people's need for access to outdoors, fresh air and exercise "whining" is unscientific and dangerous scolding. This attitude is what will get more dead and sick people. The only question is how to do it most safely. I'm not going to engage unscientific anxiety.

Here’s who “controls” the public spaces in NYC. One in 6 of NYC police offers are sick. And here’s what they get to spend their time doing . This isn’t “unscientific anxiety. “https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/14/nyregion/coronavirus-nypd-social-distancing.html …

Treating need for outdoors as "whining" is dangerous and unscientific anxiety. Treating the question of how to manage it with least risk is serious and important. There is an enormous amount of options to try for the latter. No way to address the former; it's unscientific.

No one here is whining. No one here isn’t in favor of science. I’m just a realistic New Yorker.
