I think the story here is one guy goes to dinner and 11 people leave with the virus. They want to open restaurants and gyms where I live. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yeah indoor spaces where people spend long periods of time and don’t wear masks (restaurants and gyms) are quite unlikely to be safe for a while.

I wonder if this principle can be used to make them safer though. For example directing airflow such that it doesn't flow from one table to another (e.g. vertically). This will likely be difficult in existing facilities of course.

I used to eat out 7 days a week. You couldn’t pay me to go to a restaurant right now. I’m going to social distance at the grill in my backyard.

We already know that both aerosols and droplets are routes of infection, but the general wisdom AFAIK is still that aerosols predominate. In either case close proximity indoors is clearly a bad idea, hence the importance of social distancing

Ditto that Zeynep. People average 41 minutes at a supermarket. And it’s the one indoor space almost everyone goes to (directly or by proxy of a family member). Indoor isn’t safe.https://twitter.com/jordanfrank/status/1247525640485519360?s=21 …

Would a mass retrofit of HVAC with Hepa filters help this at all? UV light? Would probably be a good idea anyways? Our home system has this

In this case, it wasn't that the air was traveling through the air conditioner, but that the infected were in the path of air being blown from and returned to the AC. HEPA filters down to 0.3 micron, CoV-SARS2 is 0.1 micron, would help but not complete filtration.

Je me pose une question sur les masques. On devrait tous le porter au travail toute la journée ? Exemple travail tour à bureau. Souper de famille? Seulement à l épicerie? Ça devrait ressembler à quoi quand on va commencer à revenir à un début de retour en société?
