Couldn’t agree more. Harder to do in major metros like NYC but agree outdoors is necessary for good health, something that’s sadly been lost in our plugged-in, heads-down tech-addicted society.

Eventually sure, but it has been a month FFS. People do not have a 'need' for exercise outdoors constantly. There are parts of the world where this is normally uncommon during much of the year, including NYC. Coddling and agitating descent is also dangerous.

People are perfectly capable of enormous sacrifice (historically, far more than this) and pulling together for a common purpose when treated with respect and when the need is communicated clearly and honestly. What is lacking is effective leadership, not parks.

Here’s who “controls” the public spaces in NYC. One in 6 of NYC police offers are sick. And here’s what they get to spend their time doing . This isn’t “unscientific anxiety. “https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/14/nyregion/coronavirus-nypd-social-distancing.html …

Treating need for outdoors as "whining" is dangerous and unscientific anxiety. Treating the question of how to manage it with least risk is serious and important. There is an enormous amount of options to try for the latter. No way to address the former; it's unscientific.
