If it were just a few weeks, sure. But time to face reality, folks. It's already been more than a month in some places. It's going to be many more weeks, perhaps many more months, and perhaps a year—on and off. Need evidence-based, sustainable policies.https://twitter.com/lalawolfi/status/1247613531869941761 …

I'm adding this here. There is not good scientific reason to totally close down parks or beaches the way authorities have been doing; and a lot of reasons to keep them open with sensible guidelines to limit unreasonable congestion or crowding.https://twitter.com/AmeshAA/status/1253167141819428864 …

Santa Clara County, one of the first to shelter in place is keeping parks open. I agree that moving outdoors in nature is a health practice which supports our physical and mental wellness.pic.twitter.com/jGm4qeeXBq

Given the risks associated with communal areas of apartment buildings (stairs/elevators/corridors etc), which do you think has the best risk trade-off - passing through such areas to get outside for exercise, or staying indoors as much as possible?

Yep, definitely go out! Just keep a distance from people while going out and touch as little as possible (you can use hand-sanitizer or just use a tissue to touch things with and discard it once out).

in CA, many of the state parks + beaches have now closed and County parks as well. We still have 2 regional parks open but in my observation, the closings have just increased visits there or on other public lands. Thx for continuing to report on this impt issue.
