I see a lot of people sharing this article. Can someone please speak to virologists and epidemiologists to write a piece to put all this in context? A “reinfection” and “reactivation” aren’t the same. Testing issues are also a possibility. This is just a few anomalies right now.https://twitter.com/Reuters/status/1249672643114086402 …

A lot of scientific findings are being reported by political journalist. I get the constraints but it just can’t be done that way. I have seen so many sharings of that article with some version of “we’re doomed.” There is something to watch there—but not really any news yet.

Please see below from an actual expert. We really need to change how we report on all these little developments and questions. I get it, everyone is anxious right now but baseless doomsday journalism isn’t helpful. We have enough very real problems.https://twitter.com/angie_rasmussen/status/1249689642992951296 …

No. There is no data supporting that these “reactivations” are much more than unreliable test results and/or fluctuating viral RNA. The press needs to stop uncritically reporting on “troubling” findings for which no data is available to examine. https://twitter.com/jessemckinley/status/1249673081947410434 …

Ah, here's a great piece on all that by @mlipsitch. Folks can stop sharing the Korea article with doomsday commentary and read this instead. It's early, there is a lot of reasons to think there will be some form of immunity, but also a lot of unknowns. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/13/opinion/coronavirus-immunity.html …

Gotten questions about reactivation/reinfection with #SARSCoV2 & wanted to see some data But since data isn't a requirement these days for #COVID19 speculation, I'll offer: I doubt this is some kind of herpes virus like latency/reactivation RNA positive PCR is not live virus

"...Even more challenging will be understanding what an immune response means for an individual’s risk of getting reinfected and their contagiousness to others. “ I have a question: Given, this is not the last coronavirus, why are we optimizing slo-building herd immunity to it?

...When we could rather, eg, build up testing capacity and select isolate, particularly in low-hit regions, to optimize economic, social, and health outcomes together? When I read Red Dawn, it seems like the NPI approach is primarily an exercise in biosecurity coordination.
