I had a conversation about this with a few guys from Ukraine. They were shocked that you could depend on a package going from point a to point b and without it disappearing en route. I've heard the same from others outside the US.

I’ve heard of a similar reaction to public libraries. This country has some unique gems. Let’s not take them for granted.

Growing up my rural grandparents didn't have an address, the postmistress just knew where everyone lived. Their town was a restaurant and a post office with a James Dean memorial in front (because he died nearby and a Japanese fan funded it).

You could recognize her because while she didn't drive a mail truck, she used her own car and always sat in the middle so she could reach the mailboxes. She just drove that way.

That’s real? I used to see it on TV shows and assumed it was some old-fashioned nonsense or some kind of bizarre rural ritual.
-
Nope, 100% real, and I grew up in a city where there were drop-off boxes every few blocks, but we just put it outside the front door and off it went.
